Not that I didn't love food before, now I just love it even more, see more opportunities, and am more inspired to cook.
The above photo is a recent grocery hall from my local co-op. This was the first time I've ever been there and I was literally a kid in a candy store. There were so many different options and choices of things I can never get at Hannaford (where I typically shop).
Luckily I brought a list and got almost everything I was searching for, mainly things Amy Chaplin talks about in her book including forbidden black rice, kombu seaweed, shiitake mushrooms, raw honey, and a multitude of grains and beans, which I got in bulk (millet, adzuki beans, red lentils, and spelt berries).
I also got a couple things as a treat hence the arctic zero ice cream, cultured butter and milk, and the kombucha drinks!
I've been planning out other meals to cook, on the list tonight is forbidden black rice with adzuki beans, along with some kind of protein and veggie. I highly suggest Amy Chaplin's book as it is more than just a recipe book. It goes into nice detail about the best foods to keep in the pantry and what the health benefits of these foods are, which is the part I love so much.
Food should be nourishing and you should feel good about feeding your body with it. Knowing how a food is helping your body thrive is one of the best feelings in the world, because when we treat our bodies well, they will return the favor.
